SSH Telnet
Learn more about SSH and how this easy protocol gives you the ability to easily maintain whole servers.
SSH, which is an abbreviation for Secure Shell, is a network protocol which is used to transfer protected information between a client and a website hosting server, which makes it impossible for unauthorized parties to intercept any data. Many tech-savvy users prefer SSH because of the enhanced security level. The connection is established and the commands are sent using a command line. The accessible options depend on the type of hosting service - on a shared server, for example, files may be transferred or deleted, databases can be imported and exported, and archives can be set up or unpacked. On a virtual or a dedicated server, the choices are considerably more - the web server and the database server may be started/stopped/rebooted, server-side software could be set up and a lot more. These things aren't possible on a shared server, for the reason that full root access is required and all the other customers on that server would be affected. Although SSH is used predominantly with UNIX-like OSs, there are SSH clients for other OSs too - Windows, Mac OS, and so forth.

SSH Telnet in Shared Website Hosting
When you have a
shared website hosting account with us and you'd like to manage your content remotely using SSH, you can obtain SSH access to the account via your Hepsia Control Panel. If your plan doesn't come with this feature as standard, you can easily add it with a few clicks via the Upgrades menu. Within the SSH section of the Control Panel, you'll see the host, the port number and the username that you need to use when you connect to the account. You could also choose what password you would want to use, given that it doesn't have to be the same as the one for the account. We have prepared numerous Help articles in which you could find each of the commands that you'll be able to use with a shared hosting package, along with examples of how they're used. Also, if SSH access is enabled for your account, you'll be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection through a standard client like FileZilla, for example.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
SSH access is offered by default with some of our
semi-dedicated server packages, while with others you can easily add it via the hosting CP if required - even just for the current month. Either way, you'll be able to activate and de-activate the function with just one click from the SSH section of the CP. In the same location, you'll discover the server name, the port number and the username required to connect to our platform. You will also find a box where you could type the password that you'd like to use, as it doesn't need to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better security, you may also change it as much as you need. A complete list of the commands which can be performed within a semi-dedicated account is provided in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and a couple of examples. An extra feature after SSH access is allowed shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client which supports this type of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Web Hosting
All our
virtual private server plans include SSH access by default, so you won't have to include any upgrades or activate anything - the instant the server is set up and you receive its login info, you will be able to connect through its main IP address and the login credentials which you've chosen during the signup process. Because the VPS accounts come with full root-level access, there are no restrictions with regards to the commands which you can run. Your server will be isolated from the other ones on the physical machine, so you shall be able to manage just about everything through a command line, including server-side software installations and reboots. In this way, you may work with your files, databases and any applications which you install in a fast and protected way.
