IP Blocking
Find out about IP blocking, what it really signifies and just how and when it’s best to use it.
If you see a considerable increase in the online traffic to your website and if after you look into the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from areas across the globe or from other web servers, your website is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. These programs go through random websites attempting to log in to their administrator area using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments below any article where this sort of an option is made available. Unfortunately, that's something quite popular lately, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you can block them, so the bots will not be able to access your Internet site in any way. Of course, you may block IPs even if you allow only people from certain countries to access your site.

IP Blocking in Shared Website Hosting
If you have a
shared website hosting account with us and you wish to block one or several IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that's included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a pretty simple interface, you can stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to complete this is to log in to your Control Panel, to go to the IP Blocking section, to choose a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You shall not have to do anything complex if you want to block a whole network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed inside the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with simply a mouse click.

This shall block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to type in them by hand. Because all the IPs which you add in this section will be listed, you may effortlessly unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the particular IP.
