Dot SE Domain Registration

The dot SE country-specific extension was created in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration procedure was very restrictive, so a very limited number of domain names were reserved. Individuals were permitted to acquire only one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was a requirement, i.e. merely Swedish persons, businesses and organizations could acquire a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was loosened significantly and, accordingly, the number of dot SE domains has been rising each year.

Presently, anybody can register a .SE name, which allows you to contact the Swedish net community even if you do not have a local presence.
